Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Armada, in collaboration with Aramco Digital and Microsoft, launched the world’s first industrial distributed cloud in Saudi Arabia.

This pioneering project merges edge computing and AI to streamline operations, creating a powerful synergy that drives real-time data processing and decision-making across Aramco’s industrial sites, according to an official press release.

The deployment integrates Armada’s Galleon edge data centers with Microsoft’s Azure adaptive cloud platform, enabling low-latency AI applications, automated safety monitoring, and enhanced operational intelligence.

Dan Wright, Co-founder and CEO of Armada said: “The deployment of Galleons in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Aramco Digital and Microsoft, marks a significant milestone in advancing real-world AI through edge computing. By bringing real-time processing capabilities directly to Aramco’s critical operations, we’re enabling new levels of efficiency, safety, and intelligence at the edge.”

The Galleons act as distributed cloud hubs, advancing Aramco's hyperscale data center strategy and ensuring on-site AI capabilities for mission-critical processes. The initial focus is on AI-powered safety solutions, using computer vision and generative AI to deliver predictive monitoring and real-time reporting at construction and energy sites.

This initiative is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to foster technological innovation, workforce development, and AI-driven industrial progress. Armada is also expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia with innovation labs, training programs, and plans for local manufacturing to support the adoption of AI technologies.

Additionally, Armada has joined forces with Newlab, a global platform for technology startups, to build a worldwide ecosystem focused on edge computing and AI applications.
