Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia launched its first industrial city dedicated to aircraft manufacturing and maintenance in Jeddah.
This was announced by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources during the Aviation Industry Forum, which focused on developing aviation infrastructure, supporting research and development, and attracting investors.
During the forum, the first industrial maintenance licenses were issued to the Middle East Propulsion Company and Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries. The event also marks the inaugural Saudi Aviation Industry Forum and exhibition, bringing together local and international experts to foster collaboration in this strategic sector.
The forum, organized by the National Industrial Development Center in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and Saudia Group, is a key milestone in advancing Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector and enhancing its global position.
As part of the forum’s initiatives, several agreements were signed to strengthen the aviation industry. The National Industrial Development Center signed an agreement with the Thani Airports Consortium to establish specialized aircraft maintenance centers at airports. Another agreement was reached with Life Shield and Autogyro to localize and transfer air taxi and helicopter manufacturing technology. Additionally, an MoU was signed with AIC STEEL and AMIC TOHO to localize the production of titanium sponge melting pipes, supporting advanced materials manufacturing.
Further agreements included a collaboration with Jabben and Jetbase to develop aircraft maintenance and overhaul operations at Jubail Airport. The center also partnered with International Airport Solutions to facilitate aircraft recycling and support investors in securing necessary licenses. Moreover, agreements were signed with Kingdom Aero Industries and Doroni to localize the manufacturing of light sport aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, while another deal with Leonardo focused on localizing helicopter manufacturing and expanding the vertical aviation sector.
The forum serves as a crucial platform for fostering industry partnerships, driving innovation, and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s role in the global aviation sector.
