
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The total value of point-of-sale (PoS) sales in Saudi Arabia reached SAR 189.7 billion during the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, up from SAR 180 billion in the previous quarter, made through 2.9 million transactions, marking the highest level of PoS spending since Q1-24.
Recent figures released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that the food and beverage (F&B) sector accounted for the largest share of PoS sales at SAR 29.9 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector at SAR 20.8 billion.
Additionally, e-commerce transactions made via Mada cards hit 547 million in Q1-26, generating sales amounting to SAR 98.3 billion.
In May, PoS sales in the Kingdom registered SAR 63 billion, made through 1.1 billion transactions. F&B sector also led the list with sales of SAR 10 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector at SAR 8 billion.
