
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha met with senior officials and leaders of global tech giants to expand the growth of the digital economy.
The minister held these meetings on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development that took place in Riyadh on 28 and 29 April.
He met with Michael Mainelli, Lord Mayor of London, to discuss ways of expanding the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the UK in various areas, notably the digital economy, space exploration, and innovation.
Alswaha further held meetings with Hiroaki Kitano, CEO of Sony, Hiroshi Mikitani, CEO of Rakuten, and Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman of Schneider Electric to discuss bolstering investment partnerships, fostering innovation, and enhancing research capabilities in different areas, such as manufacturing, digital twins, and open access radio networks (ORAN).
The WEF Special Meeting aimed to contribute to a more stable and inclusive economic future by leveraging global cooperation for economic development, promoting a global energy transition that underpins sustainable development, and advancing technological advancement.
