Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Data and ArtificiaI Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) forged a strategic partnership with Microsoft to launch Allam, the Arabic large language model (LLM), on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

This partnership, which was revealed during the Global AI Summit, will contribute to pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and fostering innovation in the Kingdom and the world, according to the authority’s announcement.

Developed by SDAIA, Allam is a one-of-its-kind application that uses a generative AI (GenAI) model to chat and respond to users in Arabic, offering reliable information in all fields.

Through this partnership, SDAIA aims to empower government entities to leverage AI technologies to accelerate their business and keep pace with the Kingdom’s digital transformation.

The partnership will further create a cutting-edge environment for the public sector in the AI field, solidifying Saudi Arabia’s position as a global hub for adopting emerging technologies.

It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in the Government AI Readiness Index, spearheading Germany and China.

The third edition of the Global AI Summit takes place in Riyadh from 10 to 12 September, gathering global figures, economic policymakers, and artificial intelligence (AI) specialists from 100 countries.

It aims to tackle challenges in AI development and address several issues such as human capacities, technical infrastructure, ethics, bias and fairness, national security, information security, and the economic and social impacts of AI.
