Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Keeta, an independent brand of the Chinese on-demand food delivery platform Meituan, officially launched its operations in Riyadh.

This move came after obtaining the necessary licenses to provide food ordering and delivery services in the capital, Saleh Alzowayeed, Spokesman at Transport General Authority (TGA), told Al Eqtisadiah newspaper.

In September, Meituan brought its food delivery services to Saudi Arabia under the name Keeta, with a budget exceeding SAR 1 billion.

Earlier this year, TGA implemented three key decisions to regulate the delivery sector: mandating non-Saudis to join licensed companies for light transport, restricting self-employment to Saudis in four Saudi regions, and issuing regulations governing the use of motorcycles for order delivery, in partnership with the General Directorate of Traffic.
