Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Kumulus Water, a Tunisia-based water tech startup, raised $3.5 million in a seed funding round to expand its operations into multiple countries, notably Saudi Arabia.
The round was backed by Bpifrance, regional VCs including PlusVC, Khalys Venture, and Flat6Labs, as well as family offices from Europe and North Africa, prominent startup founders, and Spadel, the company announced in a recent press release.
This investment marks a major step in the company’s mission to provide decentralized, sustainable drinking water in regions facing water scarcity or lacking reliable infrastructure.
Kumulus Water will use the funding to scale its atmospheric water generation technology and strengthen its presence in France, Spain, and Tunisia, while supporting expansion into Saudi Arabia.
This investment will also accelerate the development of Kumulus Boks, a new high-capacity line of atmospheric water generators designed for industrial and community-scale use.
Commenting on this milestone, Iheb Triki, CEO and Co-founder of Kumulus, said: “We’re deeply grateful to our existing and new investors for their trust and continued support. We are especially proud to welcome Spadel as a strategic partner —their long-term commitment to sustainability and innovation closely aligns with our values. Their involvement is a strong vote of confidence in our technology and our vision.”
Kumulus offers a clean, scalable alternative to bottled and piped infrastructure, reducing plastic waste and ensuring water access in the most remote or underserved locations.
It designs and manufactures atmospheric water generators (AWGs) that capture humidity from the air to produce clean, safe drinking water. Built to operate off-grid, the units require no existing water or electricity infrastructure, making them ideal for remote or underserved areas.
