DHL Group plans to invest €500 million to expand in the Middle East, notably Saudi Arabia and the UAE

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The global delivery and supply chain management company, DHL Group, announced plans to invest over €500 million to expand its business in the Middle East, notably Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The investment spans all four DHL divisions: DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL eCommerce, and will significantly strengthen the region's logistics backbone, the company unveiled in a recent statement.

The divisions will provide a wide range of logistics and transportation services to customers in the Middle East, including express parcel delivery, air, ocean, and overland freight, warehousing, fulfilment and distribution, customs brokerage, and specialized operations for sectors such as life sciences, healthcare, e-commerce, and battery logistics.

This investment is part of DHL Group’s Strategy 2030, which was launched in 2024 to prioritize growth regions and geographic tailwinds generated by shifts in global trade.

DHL targets enhancing infrastructure, expanding networks and capacity, and elevating service capabilities to empower businesses operating across and with the Middle East to capitalize on growth opportunities from trade, ensuring support and resilience for customers as they navigate evolving market demands.

John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, stated that the investment reflects the region’s increasing strategic importance in connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa, and underscores the company’s commitment to supporting its transformation into a catalyst for regional and global trade.

Under DHL’s investment plan, DHL Express will invest in hub and gateway facilities, while enhancing aviation capacity to improve service efficiency and delivery speed. Meanwhile, DHL Global Forwarding will expand its overall regional presence by investing in its fleet and pursuing joint venture initiatives.

DHL Supply Chain will also expand the contract logistics offering in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, including increasing warehousing capacity, upgrading equipment, and integrating advanced technology to optimize operations.

Moreover, DHL eCommerce’s acquisition of AJEX in Saudi Arabia will enhance its capabilities and facilitate better last-mile delivery services in a rapidly growing market.
