
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The number of point-of-sale (PoS) transactions in Saudi Arabia exceeded 1 billion in August, generating sales worth over SAR 62.5 billion. This marks the first time monthly PoS transactions have surpassed one billion since August 2024.
According to the monthly bulletin released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the number of PoS terminals reached 2.17 million in August, marking a modest increase from 2.11 million in July.
As usual, the food and beverages (F&B) sector secured the largest share of PoS sales at SAR 8.8 billion across 227.1 million transactions, while the restaurants and cafés sector achieved sales worth SAR 7.4 billion through 246 million transactions.
Meanwhile, the number of e-commerce transactions made using Mada cards exceeded 154 million in August, generating sales amounting to SAR 29.3 billion.
