Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Paymob, an Egypt-based payments technology company, announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UnionPay International to expand UnionPay card acceptance across its online and point-of-sale (POS) merchant network in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.
As per the company’s announcement on LinkedIn, the partnership will enable Paymob’s merchants across the three GCC markets to accept UnionPay cards, expanding payment options for consumers and access to UnionPay’s cardholder base for businesses.
The companies said the collaboration is expected to support cross-border commerce and strengthen payment infrastructure across the region, particularly in sectors such as tourism and retail.
The agreement comes as GCC markets continue to expand digital payment acceptance and seek to facilitate seamless transactions for local and international consumers.
Through the partnership, Paymob and UnionPay International aim to support merchant growth by broadening card acceptance across both online and physical payment channels in key GCC markets.
