Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Logistics Services Company (SAL) announced its full acquisition of Belgium's Aviapartner Liège SA for approximately SAR 120 million (€28 million), marking its first operational expansion outside the Kingdom.
As per a recent press release, the all-cash transaction, funded through SAL's internal resources, follows the receipt of all required regulatory approvals. The acquisition gives SAL a direct operating base at Liège Airport, Europe's fifth-largest cargo hub by freight volume, which handles more than one million tonnes of cargo annually.
The deal expands SAL's global network to 20 stations and strengthens its presence in one of Europe's key air cargo gateways. Through Aviapartner Liège, SAL gains established expertise in cargo handling, warehouse logistics, ramp services, and specialist freight, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, automotive products, and other high-value cargo.
Omar Talal Hariri, Chief Executive Officer of SAL said the acquisition represents a key milestone in SAL's international growth strategy, strengthening its ability to connect Saudi Arabia with major global trade corridors while supporting the Kingdom's Vision 2030 ambition to become a global logistics hub.
The acquisition will also position the company to benefit from Liège Airport's planned CargoLand expansion, which is expected to significantly increase cargo handling capacity by 2040.
