Doha – Sharikat Mubasher: Aligator, a Qatar-based agentic AI startup focused on public relations, announced it has raised $1.2 million in a seed funding round led by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and Next Ventures, with participation from private investors.
The company said in a press release that the new funding will support product development, hiring across engineering, AI research and go-to-market functions, and regional expansion across the GCC and MENA.
Founded in 2025 by alumni of Qatar Foundation, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, and Texas A&M University at Qatar, Aligator develops AI agents designed to automate key PR tasks, including drafting and distributing press materials, monitoring media coverage, identifying relevant journalists and outlets, and managing outreach workflows.
Aligator is headquartered in Msheireb Downtown Doha and is incorporated in Media City Qatar and licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre.
The company aims to use agentic AI to reduce the manual workload associated with PR operations and enable communications teams to focus more on strategy and relationship-building.
