Local production powers expansion to 26+ markets including U.S. and China

Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: As part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 push for industrial diversification and energy efficiency, Johnson Controls Arabia (JCA) is expanding its local manufacturing capabilities and rolling out advanced decarbonisation solutions across key sectors, including healthcare, infrastructure, and commercial real estate.

Speaking to Zawya, Mohanad Alshaikh, JCA CEO, highlighted the company’s dual focus on delivering high-efficiency HVAC systems and tailored energy-saving strategies. He stated that JCA, one of the Kingdom’s first licensed Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), has helped clients save over SAR 500 million and avoid 300,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions since 2020.

The company’s manufacturing milestone includes the production of Saudi Arabia’s largest air-cooled chiller, a 600-tonne capacity YORK unit, developed in partnership with global engineering teams and built at the YORK Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The complex also houses the Kingdom’s first AHRI-certified lab for testing chillers up to 600 tonnes, removing the need for overseas testing.

JCA plans to double its export output to 60% by 2027 and recently launched its largest export initiative with the shipment of 1,000 chillers to the United States. Alshaikh noted that AHRI certification provides a competitive advantage in global markets, reinforcing customer trust in Saudi-made solutions.

With 11 active production lines and over 80% of regional sales manufactured locally, JCA aims to position its KAEC complex as a global hub for smart building innovation and Saudi-engineered technology.
