Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) invited local and global companies to participate in its Autonomous Vehicles Sandbox Program, designed to foster emerging transportation technologies, according to Bandar Aljitha, Media Relations Officer at TGA.

This move will ultimately enable startups and investors to explore available opportunities in the Saudi smart mobility sector, Aljitha stated in an interview with Al Arabiya.

He noted that the first pilot phase for autonomous vehicles (AVs) in Riyadh targets testing this advanced technology in a real-world operational environment under human supervision in prime locations across the capital, including King Khalid International Airport.

This project reflects Saudi Arabia’s efforts to support emerging transportation technologies and create a smart, safe, and sustainable ecosystem that elevates the quality of life and promotes economic growth.

It is worth mentioning that Jahez launched its first fully autonomous delivery service in Saudi Arabia in July, while Uber announced its plans to launch self-driving cars in the Kingdom before the end of 2025.
