Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Energy launched the idea submission phase for the inaugural Energy Hackathon, scheduled to take place in Riyadh from 7 to 9 October ahead of the 25th WPC Energy Congress.
With the theme “Ignite Your Ideas,” the Energy Hackathon will gather young talent and industry specialists to develop solutions to key challenges facing the energy sector, according to the official statement released by the ministry today.
The three-day event will address six challenges across three tracks: Operational Efficiency, Transformative Innovation, and Intelligent Control. The Operational Efficiency track will focus on improving inspection capabilities at oil and gas facilities and on maintaining power grid stability as electricity generation from renewable energy sources increases.
The Transformative Innovation track will explore the design of smart fuel stations and the development of hydrogen-storage technologies, while the Intelligent Control track will focus on predicting grid failures and managing electricity loads.
Participants will attend specialized workshops and mentoring sessions led by industry experts before developing prototypes for evaluation by a judging panel. Selected projects will receive entrepreneurial support after the hackathon to help advance them beyond the prototype stage.
The Saudi capital will host the 25th WPC Energy Congress from 11 to 15 October, bringing together global leaders to shape the future of energy through high-level dialogue and cooperation. This initiative reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in energy innovation, while advancing the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
